Highland Estate
Victorian Walled Kitchen Garden
Commissioned to further develop the existing kitchen garden of a Highland estate, Kishorn Heritage constructed a new walled garden replete with pavilion, potting shed, gardener’s cottage and full height boundary wall. Using exclusively traditional methods and materials, an exquisite new Victorian walled kitchen garden was created which dovetailed perfectly with the existing walled garden.
Kishorn Heritage took great pride in delivering this fantastic project. Employing predominantly traditional methods and materials that are rarely – if ever – used in modern construction, a stunning new garden and accompanying outbuildings were created that were in-fitting with the atmosphere and architecture of this historic castle and estate. A hand-cut ogee roof with lead details and oak finial completed the pavilion, which was internally finished with hand-hued Chestnut lath and plaster walls and ceiling. Internal floors throughout were laid with large, reclaimed Caithness flagstones.
