Highland Estate
Landscaping & Access
As part of a major £20m renovation and restoration project at this prominent Highland estate, Kishorn Heritage carried out extensive construction and ground works to augment the access to the castle. Working closely with award-winning landscape architect Tom Stuart-Smith we created a new cobbled access road and suspension bridge and carried out substantial hard landscaping and ground works.
To realise Tom Stuart-Smith’s vision for the new access to the castle, Kishorn Heritage constructed a series of roads, a suspension bridge with stone parapets and various connecting terraces, courtyards and paths. All stone used on this project was quarried locally and hand-dressed on site where at all possible. The large courtyards were finished using reclaimed original granite setts from the streets of historic Edinburgh.
