West Coast Estate

Shooting Lodge & Keeper’s Cottage

As principle contractor on a £20m upgrade of a prominent Highland estate, Kishorn Heritage delivered new home farm buildings. Central to the project were three new traditional barn structures. We constructed the east, west and south barns using traditional arched oak frames, Lazonby saddle stones, hand-made bricks and linings made from Douglas Fir, felled and milled on the estate. Granite setts reclaimed from the historic streets of Edinburgh were used for the barn floors.

The design of this West Highland estate was heavily influenced by local traditional buildings constructed of stone with larch cladding and corrugated roofs. The timeless buildings merge into the landscape while, internally, bespoke interiors boast hand-finished detailing throughout and Caithness stone and oak flooring. Despite their traditional look, the buildings boast energy-efficient air-tight technology using state-of-the-art MVHR systems. Our sister company, Kishorn Insulations, used open cell Icynene spray to insulate the new structures from the elements.
