Gatehouse

Based on historic drawings, Kishorn Heritage created a new gatehouse. Built in the Lorimer style – with turrets, crow stepped gables and finials - use of traditional techniques and materials such as Flemish bond brickwork, Achnasheen stone base and Lazonby stone string course, gives the building authenticity. This continues inside with a vaulted roof of estate-felled Douglas fir, exposed oak beams and chimney stack with Clashach sandstone fireplace. Outside, cylindrical gateposts were crafted using random rubble masonry painstakingly chiselled to the required shape.
